13M-20M Data ng Philhealth nakumpormiso

SINABI ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) na nakumpormiso ang mula sa 13
milyon – 20 milyong data ng mga miyembro nito dahil sa cyberattack sa kanilang database.


Ayon kay data privacy officer Nerissa Santiago nitong Martes, “Sa ngayon wala pa talaga kaming exact number, as we are still analyzing the data we have just obtained…For the members, we are expecting about 13 – 20 million names po.”


Sinabi pa ni Santiago na karamihan sa mga na-kompormisong data ay mula sa indirect contributors, kasali ang senior citizens at indigents.


Ang personal na impormasyon na ninakaw ng Medusa hackers mula sa PhilHealth ay ini-release sa dark web nitong Oktubre, matapos na hindi nagbayad ng ransom money ang gobyerno ng US$300,000 o katumbas ng halos P17 milyon.

Sinabi pa ni Santiago na dumadaan sa analysis ang datos dahil pwede raw nagkaroon ng duplicates pagdating sa kanilang estimates sa data breach.


Ayon kay Emmanuel Ledesma Jr., PhilHealth president at CEO, tinitiyak daw niya na hindi
kakailanganin ng health insurer ang confidential fund para protektahan ang kanilang data.


Matatandaang ilang websites ng gobyerno ang magkakasunod na nakaranas nang katulad na cyber attacks.


Iniimbisitigahan na ngayon ng National Privacy Commission (NPC) kung nagkaroon nang kapabayaan ang PhilHealth sa pagkalat ng pribadong data dahil sa cybertattack.
