Pilipinas, nais magpadala ng rescue team sa Morocco

SINABI ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) nitong Sabado na handa ang Pilipinas na magpadala ng
isang grupo para tumulong sa rescue at relief efforts sa Morocco.


Matatandaang niyanig nang magnitude 6.8 ang Morocco nitong Setyembre 8, na pumatay nang
mahigit 3,000 taon at sumira sa maraming komunidad. Halos tuluyan nang nawasak ang moskeng
Tinmel na nasa High Atlas Mountains ganoon din ang dalawa pang UNESCO heritage sites.


Walang Pilipino ang naiulat na nasaktan o namatay sa nasabing lindol.


“We are deeply saddened by the aftermath of the earthquake that hit Morocco. We want to assure
Morocco that the Philippines is more than willing to extend assistance to support the ongoing
response operations. We are organizing a humanitarian contingent for possible deployment,” saad
ni OCD administrator, U/Sec. Ariel Nepomuceno.

Kasama sa Philippine contingent ang mga tauhan ng OCD, 525th Engineering Combat Battalion,
Philippine Army; 505th Search and Rescue Group, Philippine Air Force; Bureau of Fire Protection,
Special Rescue Unit, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority rescue team, Davao Rescue 911,
at Department of Health.


Noong nakaraang Pebrero, nagpadala rin ang Pilipinas ng 82-miyembrong rescue contingent sa
Turkiye para tumulong sa mga biktima ng 7.8 magnitude na lindol na pumatay nang 50,288 at
naka-injure sa 125,857 indibidwal.
