Rehistradong SIM na pwedeng pang-scam, P1K ang bentahan

NAGBABALA noong Huwebes ang National Privacy Commission (NPC), laban sa pagbebenta
ng rehisradong SIM (subscriber identity module) cards para sa cellphones at iba pang mobile
devices.


Nakakalarma raw ang NPC sa nabalitaan nilang talamak na pagbebenta ng rehistradong SIM
cards sa walang-alam na indibidwal sa halagang humigit-kumulang P1,000.


Nilinaw ng NPC na ito ay labag sa batas, sa ilalim SIM Registration Act (Republic Act No.


11934). Ang ganito raw gawain ay magsasa-panganib ng bumibili ng pre-registered SIM dahil
mahaharap siya sa legal na usapin o kaso, kaya hinihiling nila ang pakikipagtulungan ng publiko.


May parusang pagkakulong mula anim na buwan hanggang anim na taon, o multang P100,000
– P300,000, o parehong pagkakakulong at multa ayon sa diskresyon ng korte, ang pagbebenta
ng pre-registered SIM Mas mabigat ang parusa sa paggamit nito sa scam.

Samantala, ayon sa National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) umabot sa 113.97 milyon
(67.83 percent) ang nairehistrong SIM , sa tinatayang 168.02 milyon na nasa buong bansa.
