INIHAYAG ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) noong Sabado na ang pagsipsip sa natitirang langis mula sa lumubog na MT Princess Empress ay matatapos sa Hunyo 19.


Ayon kay PCG spokesperson Armand Balilo, “Nakita ko kasi iyong mga video niya na i-aakyat na iyong mga langis. May hose na nakakabit at dinadala na doon sa mga tangke doon sa loob ng barko at unti-unti nang nasisipsip at hopefully, by June 19, ay tapos na iyong siphoning operations.”


Idinagdag pa ni Balilo na ang oil spill ay hindi na makaaapekto sa katubigan sa paligid nang lumubog na barko.


Ang Fire Opal, isang support vessel na kinumisyon mula sa Singapore para sipsipin ang natitirang
langis, ay nagsimula na sa huling yugto ng clean up o paglilinis noong Mayo 29, na matatapos sa loob ng 10-20 araw.

buwan.


Ang MT Princess Empress ay may kargang 900,000 litro ng industrial oil nang lumubog ito sa Pola,
Oriental Mindoro noong Pebrero 28.
