Cyanide, ginagamit ng China sa Scarborough

KINUMPIRMA ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) na gumagamit cyanide ang mga mangingisdang Tsino sa Bajo de Masinloc para maitaboy ang ating mga mangingisda.

Sinabi ni Nazario Briguera, BFAR spokesperson, na ayon sa report ng mga mangingisdang Pilipino na nasa lugar, matagal na raw plano ng mga mangingisdang Tsino ang paggamit ng cyanide. Maging ang mga mangingisdang Vietnamese ay gumagamit din ng cyanide sa karagatang nasa loob ng 200-mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ) ng bansa.

Kinumpirma rin ng BFAR ang labis na pagkasira ng coral reefs sa lugar.

Ayon kay Briguera, mapanganib ang paggamit ng cyanide maging sa pangingisda dahil sisirain nito ang balance ng ecosystem, hindi lamang sa Bajo de Masinloc, kundi maging sa malaking bahagi ng karagatang sakop ng ating EEZ.

“Kasi magkakarugtong po ang ating karagatan, hindi ibig sabihin po niyan na ‘pag may pagkasira sa Bajo de Masinloc ay walang epekto iyan sa ibang bahagi ng ating karagatan,” ani Briguera.

Wala pang opisyal na pahayag ang administrasyong Marcos, ni ang Department of Justice kung may aksyong gagawin laban sa ilegal na aktibidades ng Chinese at Vietnamese fishermen.
