Forest fire, pumigil sa turismo sa Itogon

DAHIL sa patuloy na pagkalat ng sunog sa malaking bahagi ng Barangay Tinongdan at
Dalupirip sa Itogon, Benguet, nagpalabas ng utos ang Benguet Provincial Government na
itigil muna ang lahat ng tourism activities.


Naglabas ng Executive Order 2024-10 si Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas kamakailan,
na nag-uutos na itigil muna ang lahat ng aktibidades kaugnay ng turismo dahil sa sunog
sa kagubatan ng dalawang nabanggit na barangay.


Ayon sa Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Benguet at Itogon Municipal Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), na malaking sunog ang tumupok sa
madamo ng lugar ng Sitio Palangshe, Barangay Dalupirip at Sitio Simpa in Barangay
Ampucao mula Enero 28 -31. Umabot daw sa mahigit 20 ektaryang lupain ang
nasunog.

Nitong Pebrero 2, kumalat ang apoy sa may Ambasa at Mt. Ugo sa Barangay Tinongdan.
Tumulong na rin sa pagpatay sa sunog ang mga tauhan ng 505th Search and Rescue
Group at Tactical Operations Group 1 ng Philippine Air Force.

Ayon pa kay Diclas, patuloy na kumakalat ang apoy sa iba’t ibang direksyon sa kabila
nang pagsisikap ng lokal na pamahalaan, BFP, MDRRMO, civilian volunteers, atbp. na
maapula ito.
