18 Pinoys, 1 Madre, malabong umalis sa Gaza

Ito ang pahayag ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) kung nakapagdesisyon na ang 19
Pilipino, kabilang ang isang madre, na naiipit sa digmaan ng Israel at Hamas terrorist
group sa Gaza Strip.


Sinabi ni DFA USec. Eduardo Jose de Vega, habang sinusulat ang balitang ito, na may
134 Pinoy pa ang nasa Gaza Strip, samantalang 115 sa kanila ang naghihintay na
lamang na makatawid sa border ng Egypt.


Matatandaang binuksan kahapon ang Rafah Crossing sa pagitan ng Gaza at Egypt para
makalikas ang mga banyaga, pati na rin mga Pilipino, at mga Palestino na
nangangailangan ng emergency tre atment.

Patuloy daw ang koordinasyon ng Pilipinas, Israel, at Egypt para ma-prioritize ang ating
overseas Filipino workers at iba pang Pilipino na makalabas patungong Egypt, ayon kay
De Vega.

Nang binuksan ang Rafah Crossing, unang pinayagang makatawid dito ang dalawang
manggagamot na Pilipino na miyembro ng Doctors Without Borders at iba pang
international aid workers na naiipit sa Gaza.


Samantala, ayon sa report kahapon ng Associated Press, umabot na sa 9,061 Palestino
ang napapatay at 2,911 ang nasaktan sa digmaan. Mahigit 1,400 Israeli ang napapatay,
17 rito ay mga sundalo ng Israel Defense Forces, at 5,400 ang nasaktan.

Mahigit 250,000 Israelis ang lumikas mula sa kani-kanilang tahanan, samantalang
umabot sa mahigit 1,400,000 na Palestino ang bilang ng refugees.
