Ph navy, nag-deploy ng drone sa malampaya

NAG-DEPLOY makakailan ang Philippine Navy ng unmanned drone para tiyakin na ligtas ang
Malampaya Natural Gas-to-Power (MNGPP) Plant sa mga terorista o masasamang loob.


Matatagpuan ang planta ng Malampaya 65 kilometro sa hilagang-kanlurang bahagi ng Palawan
Island. Ito rin ang nagsu-supply ng 35 percent na fuel sa mga planta ng kuryente sa Luzon.


Sinabi ng hukbong sandatahan ng bansa na ang Maritime Unmanned Air Reconnaissance
Squadron (MUARS)-71 Flight Alpha ng Philippine Navy na palalakasin nila ang Joint Task
Force Malampaya’s (JTFM’s) intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities sa
pagmo-monitor ng mga kaganapan sa paligid ng MNGPP.

Sinabi ng AFP Western Command (Westcom) na makapagbibigay ang drone ng real-time na
video at mga larawan, limang nautical miles mula sa radius ng exclusive zone.

“The unmanned vehicle has the capability to monitor other oil and gas production stakeholders
like the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel “Rubicon Balanghai”
operated by the Tamarine Resources in the Gallic Oil Field,” ayon pa sa Westcom.


Noong 2020, nakapag-produce ang Gallic oil field ng 694,673 bariles ng natural oil – mas
mataas kaysa inaasahang 688,000 barrels, kahit na may pandemic noon.
