Asean, tutulong sa repatriation ng pinoys sa Israel

INIANUNSYO ni Foreign Affairs USec. Eduardo de Vega na nag-alok ang mga bansang kasapi
ng ASEAN nang pagtulong sa pagpapauwi ng mga Pilipino na naiipit sa digmaan sa Israel.


Ayon kay de Vega, handa ang ASEAN o Association of Southeast Asian Nations na tumulong
sa ating OFWs para makalikas at makauwi sa bansa.


Mayroong mahigit 30,000 mga OFWs sa Israel at 150 sa Gaza Strip, at mayroon ding 30,000
manggagawa roon ang Thailand. Samantalang ang ilang ASEAN countries ay mayroon ding
malaking bilang ng mga mamamayan sa Israel.

“The President also directed the Department of Foreign Affairs to contact other countries and
also through the embassies in Manila to provide critical assistance in looking for Filipinos who
are unaccounted for, and to help the Philippines in getting them out of Gaza,” ani De Vega.


Isa sa mga nag-alok ng tulong ay ang Indonesia, bagamat wala raw silang mga mamamayan
doon, inalok nilang tulungan ang mga Pilipinong naiipit sa West Bank, para makauwi sa bansa.

Pero, mariing tumanggi ang Israel Defense Forces (IDF) na magbukas ng humanitarian corridor
para makalabas ang mga naiipit sa Gaza at makapasok ang emergency supplies gaya ng gamot,
pagkain, tubig, at fuel. Sinabi ng IDF na kailangang mumang palayain ang lahat ng hostages
bago nila payagan ang anumang emergency supplies na makapasok sa Gaza.


Sa ngayon, 92 Pinoy sa Gaza ang nais nang umuwi ng Pilipinas, samantalang nasa Alert Level
3 pa ang Israel, na ang ibig sabihin, voluntary lamang ang repatriation.


Samantala, ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa iba’t ibang tanggapan ng
pamahalaan na agad na ihanda ang ayuda para sa OFWs na makauuwi sa bansa.


Ayon kay De Vega, gustong matiyak ni Marcos na may livelihood assistance ang mga ito
pagbalik ng Pilipinas.


Handa rind aw magbigay ng tulong ang Department of Social Welfare and Development
(DSWD) mula sa programang Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) at education
assistance para sa mga anak ng OFWs.
