Marcos, Pinangalanan ang rice smugglers

PINANGALANAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. nitong Miyerkules ang apat na rice
importers na sangkot sa agricultural smuggling.


Sa kanyang talumpati sa isang rice distribution event sa Taguig City, kinilala ito ni Marcos na
ang San Pedro Warehouse, Blue Sakura Agri Grain Corp., FS. Ostia Rice Mill at Gold Rice Mill.

Sila’y kanasuhan ng paglabag sa Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, Rice
Tariffication Law, at Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016.


“I am warning those who sabotage our economy — you smugglers, hoarders and syndicates —
stop your nefarious activities… There is no place in society for those who take advantage of
and oppress others,” saad ng Pangulo.

Inianunsyo rin ni Marcos sa okasyon ang pag-alis nang rice cap o price ceiling sa bigas.
“As of today, we are lifting the price caps on the rice both for the regular-milled rice and for
the well-milled rice,” saad pa ni Marcos at sinabing “patuloy pa ring magbibigay ang gobyerno
nang tulong sa mga mahihirap.”


Matatandaang naglabas ang Malakanyang ng Executive Order (EO) 39 noong Setyembre 5, na
nagtatakda ng presyo ng regular-milled rice sa P41 kada kilo at P45 para sa well-milled rice.
Dahil dito, pansamantalang nawala ang maraming stock ng bigas sa merkado
