Ilang lugar malapit sa fault line sa Pasig ininspeksyon ng OCD

PINANGUNAHAN ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) ang naganap na inspeksyon sa mga lugar na malapit sa fault line sa Quezon City at Pasig upang maging paghahanda sa “The Big One” sa naganap na “Walk the Fault” nitong Martes, February 21, 2023.

Kasama rin sa naganap na “Walk the Fault” sina OCD administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, at ilang mga kinatawan mula sa Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), at ilang kinatawan sa Department of Science and technology, Interior, and Social Welfare.

Binisita ng mga nakibahagi sa programa ang mga lugar na apektado ng fault lines sa Quezon City at Pasig partikular na ang Batasan-San Mateo Road sa Quezon City at Canley Road ng Pasig City. 

Ayon kay Nepomuceno na parte ang “Walk the Fault” sa Oplan Metro Yakal Plus na siyang ihinhandang programa ng Metro Manila upang maging paghahanda sa “The Big One”.Maari umanong umabot sa magnitude 7.2 earthquake ang “The Big One” na siyang parte ng West Valley Fault.

Batay naman sa naging pahayag ng OCD noong Martes ng gabi ay “They checked if the markers of the fault are present and visible, and if there are still properties or infrastructure directly affected by the fault.” 

Inanunsyo rin ng OCD na magsasagawa sila ng quarterly nationwide earthquake drills sa bansa  upang maging paghahanda sa iba’t ibang lugar kung sakali mang may maganap na pag-lindol. 

Inaasahan umanong magsisimula ang na ang National Simultaneous Earthquake drill (NSED) ngayong Marso 9 nitong taon.

Ang West Valley Fault ay isa sa parte ng tinatawag na Valley Fault System o VFS ng PHIVOLCS na kung saan ang mga lugar ng Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, mga probinsya sa Rizal, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Muntinlupa, Cavite, at Laguna.
