HINDI pa ipinapanganak ang ipinagbubuntis mo, may utang na?


Dahil dito, labis na nabahala si Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, umabot na
kasi sa P15.8 trilyon ang pagkakautang ng bansa, o P141,000 sa bawat Pilipino.


“Bakit hindi tayo dapat mag-alala sa lumolobo na ang ating pagkakautang? Lumolobo na rin
yung principal, interes, pati na rin ang kabuuang utang?” ayon kay Pimentel sa wikang
English.


Ito ang itinanong ng senador sa isang briefing ng Development Budget Coordination
Committee sa panukalang P5.768 trilyong 2024 national budget.


Sinabi ni Pimentel na umaabot na sa P1.9 trilyon ang ibabayad sa ating mga utang sa 2024.
Dito, P1.2 trilyon daw ang para sa principal at halos P670.5 bilyon para sa 5 percent yearly
interest, o may kabuuang 32.94 percent ng ating national budget sa 2024.

Ayon sa ating National Treasurer, ang kasalukuyang pagkakautang ng bansa ay umabot na sa
61 percent ng GDP o gross domestic product ng bansa. Sa ating mga kapitbahay, ang debt-
to-GDP ratio ay 61.57 percent sa Malaysia at Thailand, at 167 percent sa Singapore.


Ang pinakamahusay daw na patunay na matalino nating ginagamit ang ating mga utang ay
kung tuluyan na nating maibababa ito at maitataas ang antas ng buhay ng ating mga
kababayan, ayon pa kay Pimentel.
