4 parke sa San Juan City, smoke-free na

Idineklarang smoke-free ang mga parke na nasasakupan ng San Juan City kabilang ang Pinaglabanan Shrine, San Juan City Public Parks, San Juan City Mini Park, at El Polvorin Linear Park na naglalayong i-promote ang public health at masigurong malinis at maluwag ang hangin sa paligid.

Ito ay kaugnay sa Republic Act No. 9211o Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003, Executive Order No. 26, Series of 2017 na paglalaan sa mga establisimento ng Smoke-Free Environments sa mga pampubliko at Enclosed Spaces, at ang City Ordinance No. 5, Series of 2017 o Comprehensive Smoke Free Ordinance ng City of San Juan na idinedeklarang smoke free ang mga parke ng Pinaglabanan Shrine, Mini Park, at El Polvorin Linear Park.

Kasama ni San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora si Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Procopio Lipana, at CENRO Chief, Gabriel Katigbak, Ariel Atad, President ng San Juan SK Federation, sa deklarasyon ng mga parke.

“Ang aming pong tatlong parke ay pormal nang idineklarang smoke-free ng MMDA kaya po kami ay nagpapasalamat dahil malaking bagay po ito sa ating layuning panatilihing isang malusog na komunidad ang ating lungsod at alam naman natin na ang paninigarilyo po ay masama sa ating katawan at masama sa ating kalusugan.  Kaya natin ito ginagawa ay upang ang mga San Juaneño ay manatiling maliksi at malakas,” ayon kay Zamora.

Ang Pinaglabanan Shrine ay isang national shrine at ito ay  recognized ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines bilang isa sa  historical sites ng bansa.

Paalala ni Zamora na bawal na ang manigarilyo sa amga parks, sa ating mga pubic areas at sa mga government facilities ,  partikular na sa mga mga paaralan na kung saan ay mahigpit nilang ipatutupad ang mga ordinansa ng pagbabawal ng  paninigarilyo sa iba ibang lugar at may nakalaang multa na ipapataw sa mga lalabag sa batas.
