SENATE Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano challenged the next generation to look beyond social expectations and anchor their self-worth on faith during the Christian Bishops and Ministers Association of the Philippines (CBMAP) Youth Conference on October 3, 2026.
Speaking to thousands of young participants, Cayetano introduced a “VIP” framework focused on Vision, Identity, and Purpose to guide them through life’s challenges.
Cautioning against worldly metrics of success, the senator emphasized that true value does not stem from career titles, academic grades, social media popularity, or wealth.
“Whatever your job is, that is not your identity… Our identity is in the Lord,” Cayetano said, reminding attendees that God alone holds the authority to measure human worth.
Elaborating on the framework, he explained that having a clear vision prevents hopelessness, identity rooted in faith counters external pressures, and a solid sense of purpose protects youth from confusion and temptation.
Expressing concern over reports of young people losing hope, Cayetano stressed that a bright future remains possible despite poverty, illness, or personal hardships, and called for more gatherings that foster faith and community spirit.
Shifting focus to local challenges, Cayetano challenged the youth in Bulacan to take an active role in addressing the province’s recurring flooding and shaping its future.
Drawing parallels from his hometown, he recalled how one-third of Taguig experienced severe flooding during the rainy season in the 1990s—long before developments like Bonifacio Global City transformed the area.
While acknowledging that solving infrastructure problems requires practical engineering interventions, government leadership, and anti-corruption measures, he emphasized the power of collective faith and action.
He urged the youth to speak declarations of hope over their province and recognize their potential to build a better community for future generations.
“Young people, the future of your areas is in your hands, especially here in the province of Bulacan,” Cayetano concluded.
