Chinese tourist arrested in Pasay after assaulting mall security guard

A 21-year-old Chinese national was arrested on Thursday morning after allegedly punching a mall security guard and damaging his property at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex in Barangay 76, Pasay City.

Officers from Sub-Station 10 of the Pasay City Police Station took custody of the suspect, identified by police as alias “Wen.”

Authorities noted that the suspect is a tourist with no permanent address in the Philippines and was unable to present identification documents at the time of his arrest.

According to an initial police investigation, the incident occurred at around 10:40 AM on August 20, 2026.

A female security guard had requested assistance from the victim, a 49-year-old duty security guard, to invite the suspect to the Customer Relations Services (CRS) office for identity verification concerning a prior theft report.

When the victim approached the suspect near the 4th-floor MOA Sky football field, the suspect suddenly struck the guard in the face, causing a nasal fracture.

The suspect then stepped on and broke the guard’s prescription eyeglasses before attempting to escape.

Nearby security personnel immediately intervened, pursuing and subduing the suspect until responding police officers arrived.

The suspect was brought to Sub-Station 10 for documentation and medical examination before being referred to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS).

Formal complaints for Physical Injuries and Malicious Mischief are being prepared against him for inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director PBGen. Glenn Oliver C. Cinco commended the quick response of the mall security personnel and responding officers.

He emphasized that foreign tourists are required to follow local laws, warning that the SPD will firmly enforce regulations against violent offenses.
