Taguig clarifies response timeline and offers condolences after fatal emergency call

THE Taguig City Government expressed its condolences to the family of a patient who died following a medical emergency in Maharlika Village, while releasing an official timeline to clarify the sequence of events surrounding the incident.

The response comes after a viral social media post from the patient’s son sparked public outcry over alleged delays and inadequate assistance during an emergency call to the national 911 hotline.

According to records released by city officials, the Taguig Command Center received a dispatch request from the national Unified 911 hotline—operated independently by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)—at 12:17 p.m. on August 15.

The national hotline requested an ambulance for a suspected heart attack but provided only a lot and block number, omitting the street name and landmark.

Taguig officials stated that the Command Center repeatedly requested full address details from 911, but the missing information was never provided.

Direct calls from local operators to the phone number supplied by 911 also went unanswered.

To locate the address, the Command Center coordinated directly with Barangay Maharlika and Barangay Upper Bicutan.

Meanwhile, the patient’s relatives sought help directly at the Maharlika Barangay Hall.

Barangay personnel immediately dispatched a Patient Transport Vehicle, arriving at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital by 12:43 p.m.

Medical staff attempted resuscitative measures, but the patient was pronounced dead at 1:24 p.m.

A second ambulance dispatched from Upper Bicutan arrived at the barangay hall shortly after, where crew members learned the patient had already been transported.

Local authorities confirmed that Taguig offices are fully prepared to cooperate with any official investigation into the dispatch process.

City officials requested privacy for the grieving family and reminded residents to keep direct local emergency hotline numbers saved for faster emergency response.
