SWIFT action by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) following an emergency hotline report led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man who allegedly threatened his neighbor with an airsoft gun during a heated dispute in Barangay UP Campus late Thursday night.
The QCPD, under District Director PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio, identified the suspect as alias “Nard,” a resident of Barangay Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.
According to police reports, the altercation occurred at around 11:00 PM on August 13, 2026, after the suspect hurled unsavory remarks at the victim.
When the victim calmly approached to address the matter, “Nard” reportedly drew a firearm, aimed it directly at the victim’s left eye, and pulled the trigger, causing an injury to the victim’s upper left eyelid.
A local purok leader witnessed the violent turn of events, intervened to pacify the suspect, and immediately alerted authorities via QC Helpline 122.
Operatives from the Anonas Police Station, led by PLtCol. Virgilio Jopia, rushed to the scene where they caught the suspect still holding the weapon.
Upon failing to present any valid license or permit for the gun, officers arrested the suspect and confiscated a Colt 1911 .45 ACP silver airsoft pistol, a silver magazine, and 11 white airsoft BB pellets.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the confrontation stemmed from an ongoing neighborhood property dispute regarding the overlapping roof of the suspect’s house.
The suspect now faces criminal charges for grave threats under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code and violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Commending the quick response of the officers and the alertness of the community, PBGen. Silvio emphasized the vital role of public cooperation in maintaining safety.
“We encourage the public to remain vigilant and immediately report threats, acts of violence, and other suspicious activities through QC Helpline 122, E911, or the nearest police station so that authorities can respond promptly and prevent further harm,” PBGen. Silvio said.
