THE Taguig City government and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation have launched a youth trade bazaar to provide young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their products, gain hands-on business experience, and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

The Taguig Youth Trade Bazaar opened Tuesday, Aug. 11, in Barangay Tuktukan as part of the city’s Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 celebrations.

Mayor Lani Cayetano led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and visited the participating booths alongside SK officials and members of the City Council.

The bazaar features 15 booths representing 15 barangays, offering a variety of products ranging from food and beverages to handmade crafts and thrifted items.

Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) head Atty. Aldrin Nexel S. Sinues urged residents to support the participating young entrepreneurs by visiting their booths and purchasing their products.

Mayor Cayetano, meanwhile, stressed the importance of introducing young people to entrepreneurship and helping them build confidence and an entrepreneurial mindset.

She said many Filipinos traditionally view employment or government service as the primary paths to success, but encouraged young people to also consider entrepreneurship as a way to contribute to economic growth.

Cayetano also recognized the different ways the young entrepreneurs raised capital for their businesses, with some receiving support from their families or cooperatives while others saved portions of their allowances to start small enterprises.

She assured the participants that the city government would continue developing programs that encourage young Taguigeños to explore entrepreneurship.

Among the participants is Stephani Rubio, owner of Hanies Treasure, a small business specializing in DIY knitted flowers and handmade crafts. Rubio expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying the bazaar allows young entrepreneurs to demonstrate their ability to become self-reliant and contribute to their families and communities.

During the opening, Cayetano and other city officials purchased and sampled products from the participating businesses, while youth organizations, SK officials, residents, and city employees also visited the booths.

The young entrepreneurs thanked the city government and SK Federation for giving them a venue to promote their products, reach customers, and gain valuable experience in running a business.

The Taguig Youth Trade Bazaar is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Aug. 14 in Barangay Tuktukan.
