MAGIGING P10,000 na ang “chalk allowance” ng teachers mula sa P5,000.
Ito ay matapos ma-ratipika ng Senado nitong Marso 13 ang “harmonized version” ng panukalang batas o ang “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act”.
“Our dear teachers have long waited for the passage of this measure that institutionalizes the granting of the teaching allowance. From the very beginning, we recognize their incomparable sacrifice and concern for our students whether inside or outside the school,” ayon kay Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., chair, Committee on Civil Service, Gov’t. Reorganization and Professional Regulation.
Nag-aalala si Revilla na hindi kaagad maipaoasa ang panukalang batas.
Sinaksihan ng mga kinatawan ng Department of Education (DepEd), Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT), Teachers Dignity Coalition (TDC), at ang Philippine Public School Teachers Association (PPSTA) ang ratification ng bicameral report.
Idiniin ng senador na ayon sa Konstitusyon, dapat na magkaroon ng pinakamalaking annual budget ang edukasyon, pero sinabi ng public school teachers na hindi sila nakatatanggap nang sapat na sweldo kung ihahambiong sa kanilang mabigat at maraming responsibilidad.
