Umapela si ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro sa Department of Education (DepEd) na maglatag ng mga hakbang upang mabawasan ang epekto ng El Niño sa mga estudyante at guro.

Kasunod ito ng inilabas na memorandum ng kagawaran, kung saan nakasaad na ang klase sa mga pampublikong paaralan ay magtatapos na sa Mayo 31, 2024.

Ayon sa mambabatas, ngayong nasa mature phase na ang El Niño weather pattern, ay tumataas na ang init sa mga silid-aralan

Iginiit pa ni Castro na malaking tulong na nagkaroon ng talakayan sa pagitan ng DEPED at stakeholders para sa pagbuo ng bagong school calendar.

Samantala, magsisimula naman sa Hulyo 29, 2024, ang school year 2024-2025 at magtatapos sa Mayo 16, 2025.
