Romualdez: Depensa ng bansa ang susunod na priyoridad ng Kamara

PAGTUTUUNAN naman ngayon ng pansin ng House of Representatives ang tungkol sa national defense, ayon kay Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Ito’y kasunod ng sunod-sunod na ginawang deliberasyon hanggang sa matapos ang ilang mga panukalang batas na inihain sa plenaryo bago magbakasyon ang mga kongresista noong nakaraang buwan.

“We are almost done with the priority bills agreed upon by Congress and the executive branch. We have approved on final reading all but four of the 57 measures in the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) list,” ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez.

Magbubukas muli ang sesyon ng Kongreso ngayong araw na halos tapos na ang lahat ng priority bills na tinukoy ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ng kanyang gabinete, mga mambabatas at LEDAC.

Sa ilalim ng House Bill (HB) No. 9713, o “An Act institutionalizing a Philippine self-reliant defense posture program and promoting the development of a national defense industry pursuant thereto,” magiging priyoridad naman ng mga mambabatas ang may kaugnayan depensa ng bansa laban sa banta hindi lamang sa loob kundi pati na rin sa labas ng bansa.

Nilinaw ni Romualdez na ang bansa ay dapat magkaroon ng “credible defense program and industry” para hindi na tayo palaging umaasa sa ating mga kaalyado sa ibayong dagat para sa ating defense requirements.

Ang 11 bills ng LEDAC na nilagdasan ng Pangulo ay ang mga sumusunod: SIM Registration Act, postponement of barangay/Sangguniang Kabataan elections, strengthening professionalism in the AFP, New Agrarian Reform Emancipation Act, Maharlika Investment Fund Act, regional specialty hospitals, national employment recovery strategy/Trabaho Para sa Bayan Act, LGU Income Classification Act, Internet Transaction Act/E-Commerce Law, amendments to the BOT Law/PPP Bill, and Ease of Paying Taxes Act.
