Kongreso, may karapatan na pondohan ang SHS

MAY sariling karapatan daw ang kongreso na pondohan, sa case-to-case basis, ang
senior high school program (SHS) sa ilalim ng state universities and colleges (SUCs),
kung nais nilang ituloy ang programa.


Sinabi ni House Minority Leader at 4Ps party-list Rep. Marcelino Libanan na kung
pondo ang kailangang para masustenahan ang SHS program sa SUCs, pwedeng
magbigay ng itemized subsidies ang kongreso.


Ito ang sagot ni Libanan matapos na ipahayag ng Commission on Higher Education
(CHEd) sa isang memorandum na nag-uutos sa SUCs ang lokal na pamantasan at
kolehiyo na itigigil na ang program dahil wala na raw legal na basehan [at pondo] para
ituloy ito.


“There are also SUCs, particularly those in the provinces, that might deem it
necessary to have their own ‘feeder’ SHS programs to supply them with high school
graduates for specific college courses,” ani Libanan.

Kung tungkol sa SHS program sa SUCs, dapat daw nagsagawa na nang malinaw na
“roadmap” ang CHEd na idinedetalye ang ninanais na resulta at kung anong mga
hakbang ang kailangang para magawa ito.


Dahil tapos na raw ang transition period, ang mga naturang pamantasan ay kailangang
nang gamitin ang kani-kanilang classrooms at mga guro [para sa college students].


Sa ngayon, mayroong halos 17,700 Grade 11 students ang naka-enrol sa 2023-2024
school year sa mga naturang pamantasan sa buong bansa, ayon sa DepEd.
