SINABI ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) nitong Lunes na isa sa bawat limang kabataan,
edad 5-24 ang hindi na nag-aaral.


“Nationwide, about 18.6 percent of children aged 5 to 24 years were (sic) not attending school,”
ayon sa opisyal na pahayag ng PSA, bata sa Poverty Indicators Survey.


Kung tungkol sa kasarian, higit na marami ang mga lalaking wala sa paaralan, kaysa babae
dahil sa pagtatrabaho (25.9%), o dahil sa kawalan ng interes (17.9%).


Pero mas maraming babae kaysa lalaki ang hindi nag-aaral dahil sila’y nakapagtapos na ng
kurso (28.9%) o dahil sa pag-aasawa (17%).


Sa mga hindi nakapag-aaral, ang pangunahing dahilan ay: naka-gradweyt na sa kolehiyo o
nakatapos ng post-secondary/college (21.1%), nagtatrabaho na (19.7%), kawalan ng interes
(12.6%), pag-aasawa (10.7%), at problemang pinansiyal o ang mataas na halaga ng
edukasyon (9.9%).

Sa buong bansa, ang Calabarzon ang may pinakamataas na antas ng out-of-school-youth dahil
sa pagtatrabaho (28.3%), sa BARMM naman ang may pinakamataas na antas dahil sa
kahirapan o mahal na edukasyon.


Sa buong bansa, may pinakamaraming mag-aaral ang mga sumusunod: Mimaropa, 85.1%;
Eastern Visayas, 84.8%; Bicol Region 84.4%; Zamboanga Peninsula, 76.7%, BARMM, 78.1%;
at Central Luzon, 79.5%.


Hindi malinaw sa ulat kung pang-ilan ang National Capital Region sa surbey.
