Sumampa na sa 48 ang bilang ng mga nasawi sa magnitude 7.6 na lindol na tumama sa Japan sa unang araw ng taong 2024.

Batay sa Japanese media reports, naitala ang casualties sa Ishikawa, partikular sa siyudad ng Wajima at Suzu, habang nasa 500 katao naman a ng nai-stranded sa loob ng kanilang mga sasakyan.

Nagpadala naman ang pamahalaan ng Japan ng nasa 3,000 rescue crew na binubuo ng mga sundalo, bumbero at mga pulis sa Noto Peninsula sa Ishikawa prefecture na pinakamatinding naapektuhan ng lindol.

Ayon kay Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, nahihirapan ang mga ipinadalang rescuer na makarating sa Noto Penisula dahil sa mga napinsalang imprastraktura.
