Degamo vs. Teves sa special election?

HINDI pa tapos ang laban!


Hindi pa matatapos ang election period matapos ang Barangay and Sangguniang
Kabataan Elections (BSKE) sa ikatlong Distrito ng Negros Oriental.


Posible raw maglaban para sa Kongresista sina Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, ang
biyuda ni Roel Degamo, ang napaslang na gobernador ng lalawigan, at si dating
gobernador Pryde Henry Teves, kapatid nang tinanggal na kongresistang si Arnolfo
Teves.


Naging bakante ang ikatlong distrito dahil sinipa si Arnolfo Teves Jr. ng Kongreso,
matapos siyang makasuhan nang pagpatay kay Gov. Degamo ng nakaraang Marso at
ideklarang terorista.


Ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang mga nagnanais na tumakbo ay dapat
mag-file ng kanilang certificate of candidacy magmula sa Nobyembre 6-8, o isang
linggo matapos ang BSKE.


Nang tanungin si dating Gov. Pryde Henry Teves kung nais niyang tumakbo sa
nabakanteng posisyon ng kanyang kapatid, sinabi niya, “Posible, bakit hindi?”
“Sa barangay elections, sa nakikita ko, if more or less the leaders that supported us are
still the leaders that [the] people support, then more or less may gauge ka,” idinagdag
pa ng dating gobernador sa isang interview ng CNN Philippines kamakailan.

Samantala, ayon kay Mayor Janice Degamo, pinag-aaralan pa niya ang magiging
implikasyon nang kanyang pagtakbo dahil siya ang nakaupong mayor ng bayan ng
Pamplona.


“I subjected myself to another survey…palagi kong sinasabing hindi naman necessarily
ako ‘yun, but I am willing to give way to someone who will do better in the surveys,”
pagtatapos ng mayor.


Ayon sa ilang observers, malamang na hindi tumakbo si Mayor Janice dahil hindi siya
kwalipikado. Ang bayan ng Pamplona ay nasa ikalawang distrito ng Negros Oriental at
dito siya residente at botante, samantalang nasa ikatlong distrito ang nabakanteng
pwesto sa Kongreso.
