ISANG 20-anyos na dalagang bulag na taga-Quezon City ang nakarating sa tuktok ng Mt. Apo
kamakailan, ayon sa Sta. Cruz Tourism Office (SCTO), Davao del Sur.
Kinilala siya na si Ma. Angelica F. Torres, ang kaunaunahang bulag na babae na matagumpay
umanong nakaakyat sa pinakamataas na bundok sa bansa, ang Mt. Apo.

Ayon sa isang social media post ng SCTO, nagsimulang umakyat si Torres, kasama ng isang
grupo, nitong Oktubre 24, narating ang tuktok ng bundok nitong Oct. 25 at nakababa ng 26.


“Miss Ma. Angelica F. Torres became the first blind woman to complete a trek using the
circumferential trail of Sta. Cruz which started from Desander trail head all the way to the
boulder face, summit, Lake Venado, Century Tree and back to trail head,” saad ng SCTO.

Samantala, isang 82-anyos na babae ang nakaakyat sa Mt. Apo, via Kapatagan, Digos City
noong 2022. Hindi sinabi ng ABS-CBN sa report nito ang eksaktong petsa.
Siya ay si Atty. Iluminada Vaflor Fabroa mula sa Cavite City.


Ayon kay Digos City Tourism Officer Perla May Griffin, napaharap si Fabroa nang mahihirap
na hamon sa pag-akyat, pero dahil sa kanyang determinisyon ay nagawa niyang marating ang
tuktok ng Mt. Apo.


Ipinagdiwang ni Fabroa ang kanyang ika-82 birthday sa campsite. Snamahan siya ng kanyang
manugang na babae at isang apo. Si Fabroa ay isang retired na director ng Commission on Audit; isa siyang CPA-lawyer.
