PUMANAW na si dating Senador John Henry “Sonny” Osmeña nitong Martes ng hapon, ayon sa
kanyang kapatid, Annie Osmena-Aboitiz.


Kinumpirma rin ni Ferliza Contratista, dating tauhan ni Osmeña noong siya ay mayor pa ng Toledo
City, ang pagpanaw ng 86-taong dating mambabatas.


Hindi sinabi ng pamilya Osmeña ang dahilan nang pagpanaw, pero sinabi nila na ang dating senador ay agad na-cremate ngayong araw.


Naging awardee si Osmeña bilang isa sa Ten Outstanding Young Men noong 1970. Isa rin siya sa mga malubhang nasugatan sa 1971 Plaza Miranda bombing. Naihalal siyang senador sa parehong taon.

Si Osmeña ang naging awtor ng Republic Act 7638, na lumikha sa Department of Energy. Nagsilbi
rin siyang mayor ng Toledo City magmula 2013 hanggang 2019.
