Kaso ng cybercrimes sa bansa, tumaas sa 16,297 ngayong 2023

DAHIL sa dumaraming Pilipino ang gumagamit ng Internet, umabot sa 16,297 ang mga kaso ng
cybercrimes ang naimbistigahan ng Philippine National Police Anti-Cyber Crime Group, sa unang
walong buwan ng 2023.


Sinabi ni PNP-ACG Director, Police Brig. Gen. Sidney S. Hernia nitong Huwebes na sa 16,297,
umabot sa 397 ang naaresto at 4,092 nabigyan ng police assistance.


“These cybercrime incidents are not static; they evolve with technology. This year, cybercriminals
have exploited emerging technologies like Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), cryptocurrencies, and
online casinos to defraud unsuspecting victims,” dagdag pa niya.


Sa tala ng PNP-ACG, naririto ang 10 pangunahing cybercrimes sa bansa: online scams, illegal
access, computer related identity theft, ATM/Credit card fraud, threats, data interference, anti-
photo and video voyeurism, computer related fraud, at unjust vexation.

Magmula nang naisabatas ang Republic Act No. 11934 o ang SIM card registration law, biglang
lomobo ang bilang ng online crimes, gamit ang mobile phones.

Sinabi ni Hernia na patuloy daw na mino-monitor ng ACG ang online activities gaya ng E-Sabong.
Kasabay nito, patuloy nilang pinaiigting ang cyber patrol operations laban sa terorismo, fake news
sa iba’t-ibang social media platforms, pati na rin ang pagsasagawa ng digital forensic examinations para makakuha ng mga ebidensya na magpapalakas ng kaso laban sa cyber-criminals.
