PASIG City has claimed the top spot in the National Capital Region (NCR) for economic performance, registering the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate at 5.8 percent in 2025, according to official data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The recent PSA report highlights that Pasig and Pasay Cities—which grew by 5.5 percent—outpaced all other highly urbanized cities in the region.

Both localities, alongside five other HUCs, surpassed the regional economic expansion rate of 4.35 percent for the year.

This robust economic expansion directly mirrors the city’s labor market improvements. PSA figures from the 2024–2025 preliminary Labor Force Survey show that Pasig also recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the region.

The city’s jobless rate dropped from 3.2 percent in 2024 to 2.4 percent in 2025.

Reacting to the milestone, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto emphasized the human impact behind the macroeconomic indicators.

“Kapag lumalago ang ekonomiya, mas lumalaki rin ang oportunidad para guminhawa ang buhay ng bawat pamilya,”

Sotto said, stressing that economic growth expands opportunities for families to elevate their quality of life.

While acknowledging that these statistics serve as snapshots requiring broader context, the local chief executive welcomed the positive development and promised sustained progress.

More importantly, Sotto teased major institutional upgrades on the horizon, specifically targeting the local business climate.

The city government expects substantial improvements in the Ease of Doing Business starting with the January 2027 permit renewal season.

However, Sotto noted that the most significant bureaucratic changes will materialize over the next 12 months as the city gears up for the January 2028 renewal cycle.

With stellar economic output and a shrinking jobless rate, Pasig City solidifies its position as a premier economic powerhouse in Metro Manila, driven by ongoing commitments to governance and localized business efficiency.
