THE Mutya ng Pilipinas-Rizal community is mourning the passing of Marielle Angelyn Valler, who was named second runner-up in the 2026 pageant, as authorities and her family appeal for privacy and restraint amid questions surrounding her death.
In a statement, the organization remembered Valler for her beauty, grace, warmth, and kindness, extending condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.
“Marielle will be remembered not only for her beauty and grace, but also for the warmth, kindness, and promise she shared with everyone around her,” the organization said.
Initial information circulating online indicated that Valler died following a fall from a condominium unit in Mandaluyong City.
The Mandaluyong City Police Station said the incident occurred at around 1:10 a.m. on September 29, 2026, but urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information or speculation.
Police said Valler’s family had formally requested privacy while grieving and that authorities respected their appeal.
Meanwhile, concerns raised online over the handling of Valler’s wake were addressed by Funeraria Quiogue, which said the chapel had been closed and secured in accordance with the family’s wishes when certain photos and videos were taken.
The funeral home explained that a curtain was temporarily placed around the deceased while staff attended to a private request from Valler’s mother, ensuring the family’s requested privacy and the dignity of the deceased.
Funeraria Quiogue said the chapel officially opened to the public at 10 p.m. on October 2, allowing friends and other loved ones to pay their final respects.
The funeral home urged the public not to draw conclusions from isolated photos or videos lacking context.
Mutya ng Pilipinas-Rizal likewise called for the circumstances surrounding Valler’s death to be established by the proper authorities rather than through online speculation.
The organization said Valler would remain part of its pageant family and expressed hope that her loved ones would find strength, comfort, and peace during their time of grief.
