THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) officially opened WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026 (WSPC2026) on September 7, bringing together the nation’s top young technical-vocational talents to showcase their craftsmanship, innovation, and precision.
Carrying the theme “Your Skills, Your Future,” the country’s flagship national skills competition gathers 298 competitors representing 18 regions nationwide.
Across more than 30 skill categories—ranging from digital technology and construction to hospitality and creative arts—participants will be tested against rigorous industry benchmarks aligned with international standards.
The live competition runs from September 8 to 10, with judges assessing contenders on technical knowledge, speed, precision, and performance under pressure.
Top performers from the event will be screened to potentially represent the Philippines in upcoming international WorldSkills competitions.
TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez highlighted the historic significance of bringing the national edition of the competition—often referred to as the “Olympics of Skills”—to Clark for the first time.
“This competition is a spectacle, as it will showcase the world-class skills of young Filipinos, and hopefully will inspire more young people to see technical vocational education and training as a pathway to rewarding careers,” Sec. Benitez said. “Gusto nating ipakita na ang husay ng kabataang Pilipino ay kayang makipagsabayan sa buong mundo.”
In addition to crowning national skill champions, the event serves as a collaborative platform for trainers, industry experts, and vocational leaders to refine TVET (Technical-Vocational Education and Training) standards and address evolving workforce needs.
National skills competitions in the Philippines trace their origin to the National Youth Skills Olympics of the 1980s, which later evolved into the Philippine National Skills Competition.
The tradition was formally institutionalized under Republic Act No. 7796, or the TESDA Act of 1994, mandating the agency to promote excellence and build a competitive pipeline of skilled workers to drive the nation’s economic development.
