MULING uutang ang Monetary Board (MB) ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) sa halagang
aabot sa US$2.7 bilyon para sa ikatlong quarter ng 2023.


Kasama sa mga uutangin ang apat na “project loans” na may halagang US$19.5 bilyon, pati na
ang isang “program loan” na may halagang US$750 milyon.


Ayon sa BSP, popondohan ng mga pag-utang ang ilang programa ng pamahalaan para
makatulong na makabangon ang ekonomiya, pati na rin proyekto sa transportasyon, agrikultura
at iba pa.


Ayon sa Article VII, Section 20 ng ating Saligang Batas, kinakailangan munang aprubahan ng
BSP sa pamamagitan ng Monetary Board, ang lahat ng utang sa labas ng bansa o yaong may
“government guarantee”.

Tiniyak ng BSP na may kapasidad ang pamahalaan na bayaran ang lahat ng mga pagkakautang
nito, sa loob o sa labas man ng bansa.


Ayon sa Loan Statistics website, mayroong US$218.34 bilyon na ang utang ng bansa nitong
Hulyo 2023, hindi pa kasali ang US$2.7 bilyon na uutangin ngayon.
