INIHAYAG ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang pagsasagawa nang Exercise
Samasama sa bansa magmula Oct. 2 hanggang 12.


Kasali sa ginagawang exercise ang US Navy (USN), Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Royal
Canadian Navy (RCN), United Kingdom Royal Navy (RN) at Japan Maritime Self-Defense
Force (JMSDF).


Layunin ng naturang exercise ang pagpapahusay ng operasyon at teamwork ng navies ng mga
naturang bansa, pati na rin ang pagtulong sa mga nabibiktima ng kalamidad.


Sa pambukas na seremonya na ginanap nitong Lunes sa Naval Station Jose Andrada, Maynila,
sinabi ni PN chief Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr., “It has since been a beacon of cooperation and
readiness and a testament of the enduring bond between the Philippines and the United States.”


Sinabi pa ni Adaci na hindi lamang ang pagde-depensa ng ating teritoryo ang sakop ng
exercise, kundi pati na rin ang paglaban sa krimen na nagmumula sa ibayong dagat.

BASAHIN  Barko, eroplano ng smugglers, sasamsamin - Villar


Kasali sa Exercise Sama-sama ang 733 mga tauhan ng PN, 632 mula sa USN, 244 sa RCN,
169 sa JMSDF, 34 sa RN, at 7 sa French Navy.


Kasama rin ang mga barko ng New Zealand Navy at Indonesian Navy bilang observers.
Kasali sa exercise ang BRP Antonio Luna ng PN, USS Dewey, USNS Wally Schirra ng USN,
RN’s HMS Spey, RCN’s HMCS Vancouver, at JMSDF’s JS Akebono.


Sinabi pa ni Adaci, “Exercise Sama-sama aims to improve warfighting capabilities in various
dimensions of modern naval operations from anti-submarine warfare, to electronic warfare.”
