PINURI ni Vice President at DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte kamakailan ang National Book
Development Board (NBDB) pati na ang publishing industry ng bansa dahil sa patuloy
nitong pagsuporta sa mga estudyante Pilipino.


Binanggit din ni Duterte ang mga awtor – mga taong buong-buhay na naglingkod para
maibahagi ang kanilang nalalaman at kasanayan sa iba. Sila raw ay nagtuturo, nagbibigay-
inspirasyon, at kasiyahan sa pamamagitan ng aklat – fiction man o nonfiction.


Sa Philippine Book Festival (PBF) – na kung saan naging keynote speaker si Duterte –
mahigit 2,000 awtor, publishers, readers at mga bisita mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa
ang dumalo sa okasyon na ginanap sa SMX Convention Center.

Sa book festival, kinilala at ipinagdiwang ang ating panitikan, mga aklat, kultura, at iba pa.
Ayon pa kay Duterte mahalaga ang PBF sa DepEd dahil sa paglulunsad kamakailan ng
MATATAG Curriculum na nagbibigay importansya sa basic competencies — gaya ng
“writing, reading and comprehension”.


“Our direction is not only for our learners to possess the power of writing and reading, but,
most importantly, for them to value this power as it could help them navigate life
successfully,” aniya pa.
