Natural gas, dapat munang gamitin sa power plants – DoE

DAPAT daw maging opsyon para sa distribution utilities (DU) ang paggamit ng natural
gas dahil ito’y flexible at hindi nakasasama sa kalikasan.


Sinabi ng Department of Energy (DoE) na kailangang munang alamin kung ilan ang
minimum na porsyento ng DU bago sila utusan na gumamit ng natural gas sa mga
plantang pwede itong gamitin.


Ayon pa sa DoE, isang mahusay na “transition fuel“ ang natural gas para sa
paghahanda sa paggamit ng renewable energy (RE) para matiyak ang pagiging
maasahan ng produksyon ng kuryente.

Dahil papaubos na raw ang Malampaya gas, ang halaga ng imported na liquefied
natural as (LNG) ay mas mataas nang kaunti kaysa sa Malampaya.

Kaya magpapalabas ang DoE ng isang memorandum para sa DU sa Luzon grid na dapat
gumamit ng pinaghalong imported LNG at Malampaya gas.


Samantala, sinabi ni Engr. William Juan na napapanahon na para palawakin ng bansa
ang paggamit ng solar energy, dahil ito’y mas maasahan at mas matipid sa
pangmatagalang gamit, dahil hinto ito gumagamit ng fuel.


Mas maasahan daw talaga ang solar energy dahil wala itong moving parts, di gaya ng
power plants na kailangang ang magastos na maintenance at nakadudumi ng hangin,
lalo na ang coal-fired power plants.
