HUNDREDS of residents in Barangays Ibayo-Tipas and Pembo received free healthcare and wellness services on August 26 and 27 as the Taguig City Medical Assistance Office (MAO) rolled out its ongoing “Love Caravan” program. The initiative directly delivers accessible, high-quality medical, dental, and diagnostic care to local communities.
Over two days, the caravan provided key health services to hundreds of beneficiaries:
- Medical Consultations: 689 residents
- Free Vitamins & Medicines: 860 residents
- Diagnostic & Laboratory Tests: 233 diagnostic procedures and 186 laboratory services
- Dental Care: 203 residents
- Specialized Assistance: 4 hearing aids distributed and 6 ENT referrals
- PhilHealth Registration: Free sign-ups provided for qualified residents
Taking a holistic approach to public health, MAO partnered with the City Nutrition Office and the City Agriculture Office to host live nutrition and farming lectures. Attendees received food packages containing fresh fruits and vegetables from urban demo farms, ingredients for affordable recipes, and vegetable seeds to encourage home gardening.
Addressing the gathered crowd, Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized community order and family guidance alongside healthcare. She urged parents and grandparents to stay actively involved in their children’s digital lives as screen time rises.
“Ang aking hiling ay extra tutok tayo hindi lang sa mga offline activities ng iyong mga anak, lalo na ngayon sa online activities nila,” Mayor Cayetano stated, urging families to spend quality time together and monitor who their children interact with online.
She also called on residents to follow local ordinances—specifically regarding proper solid waste management, anti-smoking rules, and keeping narrow street alleys clear of obstruction so emergency vehicles can pass safely.
Local beneficiaries expressed strong appreciation for the doorstep delivery of health services. Amalia Mendoza, 63, a resident of Barangay Pembo, shared how the caravan lightened her financial load after receiving a check-up, laboratory tests, and free medication.
“Masaya po ako dahil malaki po ang naitipid ko dito dahil lahat po ng ito ay libreng inihatid ng Taguig,” Mendoza said, thanking Mayor Cayetano and the city government for the vital support.
The Love Caravan remains a core project under Taguig’s Transformative, Lively, and Caring agenda, expanding direct health support across the city’s barangays.
