The Philippine National Police (PNP) is preparing comprehensive security measures for the upcoming international convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which will begin in Pasay City on October 26, 2026.
Organization representatives, led by national spokesperson James Morales and Ralph Balmaceda, met with Southern Police District (SPD) Director PBGen. Rodel Pastor on October 22 to discuss security arrangements for the two-week gathering.
Organizers had also coordinated with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) ahead of the meeting.
The religious group pledged to comply with PNP security guidelines, while police officials assured organizers of their full support.
At least 200 police personnel will be deployed to secure the convention venues and popular tourist destinations expected to attract international delegates.
The deployment will involve officers from the SPD, Manila Police District (MPD), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and selected areas under the Eastern Police District (EPD).
During the meeting, Morales outlined the organizers’ security requirements and requested police assistance to ensure the event proceeds safely and smoothly.
Balmaceda welcomed the cooperation of the SPD leadership, expressing confidence that the gathering would be as successful as the previous convention held at the same venue in 2019.
The event, to be held at the SMX Convention Center and SM Mall of Asia Arena, is expected to attract approximately 5,000 international delegates and 20,000 local attendees.
Beyond its religious significance, the convention is projected to generate around ₱1.5 billion in local spending, benefiting businesses in the hospitality, food service, transportation, retail, and entertainment sectors.
Organizers also expect many international delegates to extend their visits to explore tourist destinations outside Metro Manila, potentially spreading the economic benefits to other parts of the country.
“We are very excited for this big event,” Morales said, adding that the gathering would provide an opportunity for worshippers from different parts of the world to come together.
Organizers emphasized that admission to the convention is free, consistent with the religious organization’s practice of holding gatherings without collecting entrance fees or donations.
