THE City of Taguig proudly spotlighted its robust education initiatives during its Monday flag-raising ceremony on October 12, 2026, announcing that its scholarship programs have benefited approximately 130,000 individuals and produced over 6,400 licensed professionals and graduates with Latin honors.

Led by the Taguig Scholarship Office alongside the Local School Board Secretariat and DepEd TaPat, the ceremony coincided with National Teachers’ Month under the theme “Transforming Lives Through Education.”

Executive Assistant for Education and Scholarship Office head Rene M. Lopos shared the milestone figures and underscored the city’s holistic backing for educators.

This includes continuous professional training, medical checkups, dedicated teachers’ lounges, and advanced learning tools like tablets and smart TVs for public schools.

Highlighting academic excellence, Taguig awarded special merit incentives to local topnotchers during the program.

Sheena Hillary Bautista of Barangay Rizal received ₱25,000 for placing fifth in the July 2026 Landscape Architects Computer-Based Licensure Examination, while Juan Carlos Maglipon of Barangay Central Signal earned ₱20,000 for ranking eighth in the September 2026 Psychometricians Licensure Examination.

The city continues to empower learners through diverse pathways.

Under the flagship Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) Scholarship Program—established via City Ordinance No. 9 (Series of 2011) and expanded through Ordinance No. 6 (Series of 2020)—qualified scholars receive annual allowances ranging from ₱15,000 to ₱110,000, plus an extra ₱10,000 incentive for maintaining a semestral weighted average of 88.75 or higher.

Additionally, the INVEST Scholarship Program provides full tuition and monthly allowances for qualified students pursuing medicine in the country’s top medical schools.

These local efforts align with national developments following President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s signing of Republic Act No. 12325 last September, which amends the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act to expand the Tertiary Education Subsidy and strengthen support for vulnerable sectors.

Taguig remains steadfast in investing in its youth and educators to build a solid foundation for the city’s future.
