THE City Government of Taguig has categorically denied allegations of illegal reclamation, calling a viral video circulated by Senator Panfilo Lacson a “misleading narrative” built on “curated footage.”
The controversy stems from an inspection video shared by Senator Lacson, which featured officials from the Office of the Ombudsman, the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), the Land Registration Authority (LRA), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The footage pointed to supposed illegal reclamation activities in the area.
In a statement, the Taguig local government asserted that the video was presented to the public alongside sweeping conclusions regarding “illegal reclamation” and “impunity.”
Clarifying the property’s status, the city government maintained that the site shown in the footage is not possessed or used by the City of Taguig.
Instead, the land is claimed by several private individuals and a neighborhood association.
Furthermore, Taguig emphasized that it has not issued any permits or authority to any of the alleged private owners.
While expressing its steadfast support for anti-corruption efforts, the local government urged the public to exercise caution and discernment against claims it deems factually inaccurate and unsupported by official records.
“The fight against corruption must always be a fight for truth—not a contest of accusations,” the city stated, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, integrity, and the rule of law.
